Hi, I’m Rebecca!

Welcome! Thank you for visiting my baking blog! I enjoy baking and sharing what I’ve learned, so creating a blog was a natural next step. Whether you’re an accomplished baker looking for ideas, or you’re brand new to baking, I hope you’ll find some sweet new recipes that you and your loved ones will enjoy!

Cookie jar filled with cookies.

I’ve been cooking and baking for my family for over 30 years and spent many of those years as a stay-at-home-mom. I even planted a vegetable garden and raised chickens for a time. But once my children finished school, I went back to school myself. Now I have a full-time job and not as much free time to bake the way I’d like to. I’m excited to use this blog as an opportunity to get back into the kitchen and to share my baking adventures and tips and tricks along the way.

When I was younger I couldn’t cook anything. So I read lots of cookbooks and asked lots of questions, and I’ve learned a lot along the way. The best part is that I’m still learning! I’m a humble home baker who enjoys baking cakes, cookies, biscuits, muffins, and breads for my family. But I want to branch out into unfamiliar territory and learn new things like the art of pastry (did you know there are 7 types?), how to make yeasted doughs from around the world, and the difference between custard and flan. I’d love to go to culinary school and become a pastry chef (maybe one day?), but that’s not practical for me right now. Instead, this blog will chronicle my wins and fails so my readers can grow in confidence with me.

I’m passionate about food, and I truly believe that feeding people with love nourishes both the body and the soul. Nothing makes me happier than gathering folks around the table and preparing delicious food for them. There’s just something about sharing a meal (or a cuppa) with someone that weaves a common thread between you. Everyone eats! So you might as well make it a meaningful experience.

I have lots of other interests besides cooking and baking and plan to write about those things as well. Some of my interests include reading, finances and investing, beauty and skincare, watercolor painting, and many other things. So grab a hot cuppa something you love and enjoy your visit!
